In poor taste?

A TikTok influencer has split the internet after posting a video purporting to showcase the three telltale signs of growing up poor.

The divisive clip, which boasts over 300,000 views, was uploaded last month but has only recently gone viral as viewers debate whether her poverty litmus test is on the money.

In the 10-second footage, captioned “Signs You Grew Up Poor,” TikTok user @bornunicornyt showcases the penny-pinching indicators, which apparently include adding water to soap dispensers or shampoo bottles to stretch the supply.

Another purported sign of an impoverished childhood is repurposing plastic bags as garbage liners.

And lastly, viewers most definitely grew up destitute if they hoarded sauce packets from restaurants, per the clip.

However, her video received mixed reviews from the TikTok commentariat, many of whom thought her fool-proof poverty signs were actually evidence of resourcefulness.

“Not poor … just not wasteful,” argued one commenter, while another called the methods “frugal.”

A third claimed, “My dad makes good money and we still do the sauces.”

“Really wealthy people are mostly thrifty, this is the way to gain money,” declared one naysayer.

However one TikTok wit joked, “If you don’t use Walmart bags as trash liners ur too rich for me.”

In the realm of frugality, nothing holds a candle to this California man, who shelled out a measly $150 a year to eat every meal at Six Flags Magic Mountain in order to save thousands, pay off his student loan debt, get married and purchase a house in Los Angeles.
